Asked Questions

1.
Why
buy from an experienced Log Home company?
Ron
Wolfe has been in the Log Home industry
for 36 years. Ron Wolfe has been building
with logs since 1972. He is a Licensed General
Contractor in NC. Intermediate Building
Classification: License #13820.
Wholesale
Log Homes prides itself in educating
consumers by respectfully and logically explaining the
process of purchasing top quality building materials
to build a log home. We don’t believe that the
luster and allure of a decorated model home warrants
the kind of markup you will pay when you can easily
locate the same or better materials that are found in
a kit/package - by yourself or with your
builder. Eliminate the inflated "kit"
pricing. Buy it yourself and $ave. There is nothing
you can not do that a kit seller does!
The
service from Ron is prompt and personal. Call with any
and all questions regarding the materials or
construction. Ron will help you to
understand what you are buying; Log Homes Council grade
stamped logs with a Grade Certificate for you and
your building inspections office, to assure quality - at
WHOLESALE pricing.

2.
Why
should I buy the log products separately instead of
purchasing a log home KIT?
If
quality and price are important to you, then I ask you
to consider thinking “outside the Kit” and
ordering the logs and log materials needed for your
log home, direct, WHOLESALE. All logs are LHC grade
stamped and precisely milled. All kiln dried logs and kiln
dried materials are covered in breathable,
waterproof lumber wraps to keep products dry, protected
and clean. ALL LOG ORDERS ARE MILLED TO
SPECIFIC ORDER. NO LOGS ARE SITTING AROUND, OLD
OR DISCOLORED. LOGS FIT TOGETHER
PROPERLY AND STACK PLUMB. LOGS ARE UNIFORM IN SIZE, COLOR -
BRIGHT, WHITE and CLEAN. Besides the
best log quality, Wholesale Log Homes provides
prices for its products that don’t include any extra
markup as opposed to the outrageous markups of kit
sellers, package sellers, auction gimmicks, specials,
overstock package sales of logs that are not even
milled yet - so how can they be over-stock? Once
again, I ask you to consider the games, mark-ups and gimmicks
used to sell KITS.

3.
ARE ALL LOGS THE
SAME? NO!
|
We
are LOG HOMES COUNCIL members and have been for many
years. We provide Log Homes Council Grade
Stamped Logs. All logs milled are graded to
Council grading rules: wall log and header log. Each
and every log is inspected/graded - all 6 sides. We
have unannounced inspections from the Council to
double check, triple check the simple fact what we do
is right. This assures you high quality and no false
promises. Do it right or don't do it at all. A Grade
certificate will come with your order. One copy for
you and one copy for your building inspections office
to assure them you're using graded lumber. Many
inspections offices around the country require
graded logs. This is part of the International
Residential Code.

4.
The
model homes of kitsellers seem so appealing. Why
shouldn’t I believe their “pitch?”
“Kitsellers”
present buyers with models and display homes whose
interiors are elaborately decorated. They showcase
upgraded interiors that include granite counter tops,
stone fireplaces and other “special” items that
serve to entice and romance buyers and distract you
from why you're there - to look at the logs! Basically
selling an emotion! What happens to buyers all
too often in these situations is they end up buying a
“kit/package” for what they see and pay grossly
inflated prices. The common practice can be up to 300%
mark-ups over cost for some building components that
can and should be purchased locally, directly
from local suppliers and distributors at a fraction of
the Kit price. Wholesale Log Homes prides itself in
trying to educate consumers by respectfully and
logically explaining the process of purchasing top
quality building materials to build a log home. We
don’t believe that the luster and allure of a
decorated model home warrants the kind of markup you
will pay for when you can easily locate the same or
better materials that are found in a kit/package, all
by yourself. Please think logically when making a
decision of this importance and expense. Do not buy a
KIT based on emotion. ALL YOU'RE BUYING ARE
LOGS AND TIMBERS. AS NOTED - MAKE A LOGICAL DECISION
ON PURCHASING LUMBER COMPONENTS ------ NEVER AN
EMOTIONAL DECISION.
Buying
the “whole package” based on a display or model
home in essence is an emotional decision and a costly
mistake. You have a choice. Please think carefully
when making a decision of this importance and expense.
Buying
an all inclusive kit with all components delivered all
at once, usually with some promotion attached to it,
comes with more than a big price tag. There is that
sense of urgency to buy NOW. It’s an emotional sale.
Please think calmly and intelligently about the
individual building components, the quality of the
products you want and will need for your home, the
choice of where to buy them and what to pay for them
is yours.
Log
home kit selling is a very sophisticated business
with many, many hands involved in the package. Ask
yourself, “Can I determine what to buy
for myself and do that and or get help from a
friend or contractor?”
Take
your time, forget the sense of urgency and pressure
put on you to buy
the whole “pretty picture” and to buy
it now! List the components you want for your home. Do
a little research on price and locations of local
distributors that are willing to deliver on your
schedule and time frame. Put aside the pressure to
rush into a decision to buy now at a “special
price”. Think carefully about your options and
choices. Select the quality and grade of building
components YOU want. Building products
are sold anywhere and everywhere. Specials
are gimmicks, pressure and hype!
Bear
in mind - the savings of buying your log home
materials here may enable you to have higher
quality windows, doors and many other custom touches
for your home!
Respect
yourself. Many kitsellers don't! They just want your
money.

5.
Are
kits easier or more economical to construct?
No!
You or the building contractor that you choose in your
area will know exactly how to order your building
materials locally without any problem or inflated
costs to you. In a standard stick-framed home,
the contractor orders all the items separately and has
them delivered at the appropriate times. You or he
can order the logs from us just as he would have
ordered the framing materials for a stick-framed home.
The time it may take to order the items you pick
out will still be more economical than the enormous
markup of the kit. I ask you to simply compare the
savings.

6.
What
problems can occur from having the whole kit delivered
at once?
A
licensed building contractor building a stick frame
home would never have all the windows, doors, roofing,
and other materials delivered on the first day. Why
should you? In addition, why should you pay
more than necessary for these materials? Kits are an
overpriced collection of store bought building
products resold at unreal prices. If you think we're
wrong - price it out for yourself and you'll be
stunned on the money you'll $ave instead of an
all-inclusive package. If we're wrong - call Ron and
tell him so.
Buyers
of kits take delivery of the entire package on day
one. That means all the building matrials for the
project arrive at once, posing huge storage problems
and logistical nightmares. Many are unprepared and ill
equipped to deal with this. Perhaps a more timed and
spaced delivery of items to be used in the project is
a more prudent and certainly more cost effective
measure. First of all starting with GRADE STAMPED logs
from us and all other building materials can and
should be purchased locally at a price you want,
the quality you want and the brand you want, plus
these products can be delivered when you want. No
pressure to take everything all at once and certainly
no needless mark-up for packaging them in a kit. If
you have a product you bought locally arrive
damaged, the simplicity of having that replaced is
much greater than a product delivered to you from
4 states away - and the difficulty of returns,
repairs, reimbursements is not a pretty picture.
Do
you realize how large a tractor trailer is? Will that
truck make it down or up your narrow, curvy driveway?
Will there be enough room to store all that's
delivered in a kit?
